Wedding cards.

Hi everyone.

Today I want to share with you two wedding cards I have made for my DS.

My sister has 2 daughters and a son, all in their twenties, so they are attending a lot of weddings lately.  My sister has asked me if I could make them some wedding cards to give to their friends who are getting married.
I am having a lot of fun with these cards!!

Here are the two cards I'm sharing with you:

I really like how these daisies from Verve (VS-09-PJ016) look when heat-embossed in white, on vellum.  I've fussy-cut them and added a pearl in the centre of each.  The dp I've used is by Teresa Collins, from the 'Far Away' collection (it's actually paper with a travelling theme, but I find them suitable for almost any card!! Some of my previous posts also shows cards where I've used this paper.)  The sentiment is in Afrikaans and says 'Congratulations'.

The roses on this card is from KaiserCraft and again some of the 'Far Away' dp by Teresa Collins.

That will be all for now!!

Thanks for the visit and hope to see you again soon!
Kind regards
Petra

Spécialement pour vous, Anita (in France)

Hi everyone.

A blogging friend of a lot of us, Anita (in France), celebrated her birthday on 18 Feb, but nobody knew about it!!  To set the matter right Bev and Darnell organized a surprize birthday party today to celebrate Anita's birthday.  In the short time I have known Anita, I have come to know her as someone with a lovely sense of humour and a great talent for card making!!!  She is a great CAS artist!!  Her blog is always a joy to visit!!
So, Anita:  ceci est pour vous et vous êtes la star du jour!!

I could not make up my mind if I should do a true ‘Petra card’ with lots of layers and patterned papers and flowers, or a CAS card seeing that you are a CAS lady, Anita.  In the end I decided to use the retrosketches#105 sketch and I tried to keep it CAS.
As all my French stamps were stolen last week  (LOL!!) , I decided to go for an Afrikaans sentiment, as Afrikaans is my home language and I thought that would make it a bit more special!!  The sentiment says:  Juste pour vous!   (By now you have to be impressed with my French, hey!!  LOL!!)
So this is the card I made specially for you   (…for your 29th(???) birthday (maybe not quite!!??  LOL!!!):

This card comes with warm wishes for a blessed year and for days filled with everything that makes you happy!!    Félicitations!!!

I won’t keep you any longer, Anita, you probably have a lot more blogs to visit!!

Profitez de la journée

Salutations et les voeux de l'Afrique du Sud
Petra

P.S.  Luckily we’ve got translators available on the net, hey!!!  (No way I can speak a word of French!!  LOL!!   thank goodness I don’t have to pronounce all of that!!  LOL!!)

I don’t think anyone will forget your birthday again, Anita!!  Next year we’ll be on time!!

Thanks to the lovely Bev and Darnell for making this a fun day for all of us!!!

Vellum Cards.

Hi everyone.

Those of you who visited my previous post will know that my friend, Angela Bode, has sent me some vellum from America and since it arrived I am having a lot of fun making cards using some of the vellum on it.  At the moment I'm busy making a lot of cards for charity and I want to share three of the cards with you.

The first card was inspired by cardabilities #94 by Karan Gerber.  I have only recently discovered the cardabilities challenge and love Karan's sketches - really some great stuff there.

The sentiment is in Afrikaans and says:  'Best Wishes'.  The lovely little wooden arrow was among some goodies that Angela has included in the parcel with the vellum.

The second card was inspired by the layout of retrosketches #20.  And you'll see another of the little arrows Angela has sent me.

The sentiment says 'Congratulations' and the arrows stamped at the bottom is part of the 'Borderline' stampset by Verve.

The last card came about just playing around with some elements till I got a pleasing result.

The sentiment says 'Enjoy your birthday'.

All the bits and pieces of dp are by Teresa Collins.

I have made quite a few cards already for my charity project and I might share some more with you later.  In the mean time, have a lovely Sunday.  I'm off to make some coffee as it is already nearly 4 o'clock in the afternoon in South Africa.

Kind regards
Petra

CTS#68

Hi everyone.

Hope you're all enjoying the weekend!!  We've got a beautiful autumn day here in George.

Before I show you my card I want to tell you what my dear friend Angela Bode has done for me.  Many of you will know Angela from SCS and her blog I would rather be stamping.  Well, I could not get hold of vellum in SA and I so love the look of it on the cards you all make with vellum on it.
I asked Angela if she could maybe sent me some from America and she was willing to do that for me.   She has sent me 2 pgk with 25 pages each!!  And what's more, she added lovely little crafting 'goodies' for me as well!!  (you will see some of it on my cards in my next post).  Angela, you're the best my friend!!  -  thank you so very, very much for doing this for me and I hope the 'goodie box' that I have sent you to show how much I appreciate what you did, will not take to long to reach you!!
Please hop on over to Angela's blog and have a look at the lovely cards she makes.

So here's my first card using some of the vellum Angela has sent me.  It is my entry for the current sketch challenge over at the CAS(E) this Sketch Blog.

I've used a small piece of paper from the 'Far Away' range by Teresa Collins and a manila tag.  I heat embossed the sentiment on the vellum using white embossing powder.  The sentiment is in Afrikaans and says 'Congratulations'.  The leaf stamp is from the 'Bloom & Grow' set by Verve and it was cut with the coordination die from the 'A CUT above DIES' range by Verve.  The little daisy was cut with the 'Flower Trio & Leaf Trio' dies from the Die-namics range by MFT,  The boderpunch I've used is by American Crafts.  Added a twine bow and some silver rhinestones and it was done!!

That's it for now, will be back later with cards I've made with some of the vellum Angela sent me.

Thanks for popping in and have a great weekend!!
Kind regards

DS#141

Hi everyone.

Lovely cool Saturday afternoon here!

I'm posting my card for the Deconstructed Sketch challenge over on Jen Schults' blog.  I really like Jen's sketches and this is one I will surely use again in future.
My card:

and this is Jen's lovely sketch:

I have used designer pages by Marion Smith, from the 'Nirvana' and 'Garment District' collections and a small piece from the 'Hunt & Gather' collection by KaiserCraft.  The circle frame and sentiment stamps are from a local craft shop, Great Impressions, and the arrowhead stamp is part of the 'Borderline' set by Verve.  Added a piece of washi tape and some black rhinestones and it was done.
The circles were cut with Spellbinders nesties.

I had a feathered friend, a Fork-tailed drongo, visiting again, but he was so upset with our Siamese which was with me, he only made a terrible noise and took off!   I managed to get a few photo's of it:

Hope you are having a lovely weekend and thanks for popping in!!

CTS#67

Hi everyone.

Quick post before I have to fetch my son from chess class.
The card I've made is for the current sketch challenge over at the CAS(E) This Sketch Blog.
This is my card:

and the sketch:

For my card I've stamped the star from My Mind's Eye (Item #LL1005) with black staz-on on white cardstock.  I heat-embossed the star with silver embossing powder on black cardstock and cut it out.  I heat-embossed it again with silver embossing powder on white cardstock and cut out the middle part.  I adhered the cut-out white star to the black one and adhered that overlapping the staz-on star.
Computer generated the sentiment, layered on black cardstock and adhered with foam tape overlapping the stars.  Added some silver rhinestones and adhered my panel with foam tape onto my card front.  Quick and easy and I must say I like how it turned out!

Have to be off!!
Thanks for popping in (...and I love your comments!!)
