Just for you!

Hi everyone.

I'm back with a very special card I've finished this morning.  When you see this card, those of you who is familiar with my usual style, will immediately know that this card is ages away from what I usually do!!  But I have to admit;  I had tons of pleasure creating this card!!

My very dear friend, Sharon, from Cape Town, makes the most beautiful girly cards.  (You can visit her blog HERE and enjoy her work.)  Well, the story is that Sharon has been so kind to send me some lovely crafty goodies a while ago.  Amongst the goodies were some stamped images of some of her lovely Magnolia stamps.  For quite some time now, I've been wanting to color some of these images, but I just never got to doing it - always something else to do!!  Well, last night I decided to take the time to color one of the images, but the problem is I don't have any Copics Markers or anything similar.  I had to settle for the ordinary cheap stuff coloring pencils we used to use at school way back when I was still in school!!  But boy, did I have some fun!!  As a little girl I LOVED coloring books and I still enjoy it as much as when I was small!  I tried to do a bit of shading and blending (with my finger!!  LOL!), but the result is (understandably) not near to the lovely work you can do with Copics.  Any way, I decided that I have to share this special card with you.  The bg paper was amongst a lovely selection of papers Sharon has included in her parcel.  I've added some doileys, a bow, some flowers and the sentiment and there it is!

(The sentiment is in Afrikaans and says:  'Just for you').

I must admit that, although not my usual style, I do like this card and I'm going to send it to a special little girl in Cape Town.  I know that she will love it!

Off to see what I can do for supper tonight!  Some days cooking is fun, but today I'm not in the mood for spending time in the kitchen - I would rather do some coloring of another image!!

Have a super afternoon and thanks for spending time with me!
Kind regards
Petra

Hi everyone.

Oh boy, it's been ages since I took part in the CAS(E) this Sketch challenge!!  I've decided to join in the fun again.  The DT really gives us great sketches to work with.

Here is the card I've created:

I love working with dry wall tape and washi tape and I've used both on my card.  I've wrapped a string around my panel and adhered the hexagon with the sentiment on foam tape.  I've added two punched out flowers and adhered the panel with foam tape to my card front.

Here is the sketch for the week:

That's it for now.

Thanks for the visit and I would love you to leave a comment!
Have a lovely day!

Kind regards

Mojo Monday!!

Hi everyone.

Hope you are all well on this Monday morning!!  It is a beautiful day in George and spring is definitely in the air!!

I visited the Mojo Monday blog  a minute or two after the sketch for the week has been loaded and I decided to jump in right away and make a card following Julee's sketch.  I went for a square card and a bit of mixed media again.  Here is my card:

I've put some gesso on the bg paper and the corrugated cardboard strip and I've shaded the sentiment panel with some Black Soot distress ink.  The sentiment is from the 'Birthday Phrases' set by Verve.
The oval die is a nestie by Spellbinders.  The flower die is part of the 'Winter Rose' die-set from the Die-namics range by MFT.  The 'Leaf-filled Flourish' die is also by MFT.  The twine flower is an idea that I came up with for a scrapbook page and I like how it turned out, so I decided to make one for my card.  Added some pearls as in Julee's sketch and that's it!  Hope you like my card!

Here's Julee's sketch.  Play along at the Mojo Monday blog

Thanks for stopping by and if you've got a spare moment I would love you to leave a comment!
Have a lovely week - hope you've got lots of time to be creative!!

Kind regards

Mini album continue!

Hi again, here's the last 3 pages of my album:

Here I've done a bit of Mixed Media by adding texture paste on the sides and doing a bit of spraying with diluted white acrylic paint.  The stensil I've used is by Prima.  I've also added some gesso around the edges of the pages.

On this page I've stamped the gears on the background paper and and done some spraying with Lindy's Stamp Gang sprays.  The chipboard embellishments I've colored slightly with my black stamppad.  I painted it with embossing paste and then heat-embossed it with clear embossing powder.  I sprayed it with the same spray from Lindy's and then added little bits of embossing paste to it.  I heat-embossed it then with gold embossing powder and finally sprayed it again with some more Lindy's.  I love how it turned out.  It's got a lot of lovely texture.  The frames are chipboard pieces I've covered with washi tape.

First year in high school for big brother!
Again I've added some texture paste using a Prima Stensil.  Added some keys and a fishtail banner and the right hand page says 'To be continued'

That's it for mum's mini album.  Can't wait to send it to her tomorrow - I've made a lovely corrugated cardboard box for it I know she is going to love it!!

Thanks for spending some time on my blog - hope to see you again soon!!

Have a lovely Sunday and enjoy the coming week!!

Kind regards
Petra

Mini album for my mum

Hi everyone.

Today I want to share with you a mini album that I've made for my mum with all the kids' school photos over the years.  I am really enjoying doing more scrapbooking lately.

This is the front page of the album:

The embellishment in the upper righthand corner is a photo corner that I got as part of a lovely selection of goodies that a friend of mine, Sharon, whom I met in Blogland, has sent me a while ago.  Sharon lives in Cape Town and makes the most beautiful cards.  (you can visit her blog here:  sharonskardzkorner.blogspot.com ).  The photo corner was silver, but I gesso-ed it and spritzed it with sprays and added a little bit of paint.  I think its perfect for this page!  (Hope you like what I've done to it, Sharon and thanks again for the lovely gifts!).

These are the inside pages of the album:

I've used the Engraver Collection of patterned papers by Prima Marketing, throughout the whole album.

In 2006 my eldest son was in Grade 1 and I don't have a photo of his brother for 2006!  Don't know how that happened!

I've seen some lovely burlap flowers on cards and scrapbookpages on the internet, but I haven't managed to get hold of some yet, so I had to make my own.  I used a die by MFT to cut a flower from white cardstock and burlap.  I had to cut the burlup 2 or 3 times with the Cuttlebug and in the end had to use my scissors to cut the last bits.  I then adhered the burlup flower to the white cardstock one and added another die-cut flower and a button with twine to it.  The leaves I've stamped on green cardstock, cut out and painted with crackle paint.  Added some dry wall tape and doileys to finish the pages.  Little brother was in Grade 1 in 2008.

I'm going to do the other 3 pages in a separate post as I had problems putting them all in one post.  Blogger did not want to allow me to enlarge more than the top 4 photos when I tried to do them all in one post and if I don't enlarge them they are a bit small.  Hope that's OK with you.

I'll be back in a sec!
See you...

Mojo 4U on a Saturday!

Hi there Can't believe it's Saturday already - the weeks just fly past the one after the other!! I'm posting my card for this week's sketch challenge over at the Mojo Monday blog. Love all the layering on this one!!
This morning when I took the photograph it was very overcast and we had some rain during the night. I spotted the beautiful drops hanging off the berries on this plant and thought it would be the perfect spot to take my photo. The mountains were all covered with clouds so my usual spot for my photos would not have been as nice as when the sun is shining. I've made this card for a dear friend of mine who is having her birthday tomorrow. I've used papers by Teresa Collins and KaiserCraft and the stamps are all by Verve (VS-09-PJ016, Borderline set and Bloom&Grow set). I've used dies by Spellbinders and MFT and the Sentiment is a cut with a Tim Holtz alphabet die. This is the sketch by Julee:
Have to be off to serve supper. Have just taken my artichoke, tomato and feta quiche out of the over! Thanks for the visit. Kind regards Petra P.S. Don't know what's wrong with blogger - maybe I'm doing something wrong, but things aren't working as they used to!! Have to figure out what's going on!!

VLVJul2013 Week 5

Hi everyone

Last day for posting cards for the VLVJul2013 challenge over at SCS.  Here is my card for week 5:

For my card I've used patterned paper from the 'stationary noted' range by Teresa Collins.  The stamps I've used are from the 'Joyful Blooms' set by Verve.  I've also used the Pennant Trim die by Verve.  The 'Fancy flourish' and 'Prima Donna Petals' dies are from the Die-namics rang by MFT.

This is such a lovely sketch that I've made a second card using it:

I've used the last of my papers from the 'stationary noted' range by Teresa Collins.  The sentiment is again the one from the 'Joyful Blooms' set by Verve and I've used the 'Pennant Trim' die again.  This time I've used the 'Winter Rose' and 'Leaf-filled flourish' dies by MFT.

Here's the sketch by Julee:
