Mixed media card.

Hi everyone.

I am really hooked on the mixed media thing now!!  I started off with mixed media scrapbooking about a month ago and has now started doing cards with mixed media as well.  It is just such great fun!!

The Mix-ability challenge for the week, over at Splitcoaststampers, is to work with bright colors and to then tone them down with gesso or any other medium.

The card I've made turned out like this:

For my card I have started off by scribbling with a bright green oil pastel on white cardstock.  I then toned it down with some gesso, but I didn't get the soft effect I wanted.  I then appied some txture past with a brush and let it dry.  I then had the soft green I wanted.  I distressed the edges and adhered the panel to my card.  I distressed the edges of a piece of patterned paper (KaiserCraft, 75 cents Collection) and adhered that to the card.  I added a piece of a chipboard border and a paper doiley.  The leave stamp I used is by Verve - stamped that on a piece of green cardstock and cut out.  Added the leafs and the flowers to the card .  Cut a metal flower embellisment in half and added that as well.  Die-cut the letters from black cardstock and adhered that.  I then added a tiny bit of blue to the flowers by spraying it with diluted Liquid Dye.  Finally I toned everything down with some gesso that I applied with a paint brush.  Finally had the soft effect I was looking for.

That's it for my mixed media card.  Hope you like it!

TFL and have a super day!

Fusion challenge #11

Hi everyone.

I've been following the Fusion Card Challenge since it started, but have not taken part before.  I've decided to join in the fun this week.

Here is the challenge sketch and the inspiration photo for this week:

I mainly went with the sketch, but I've included some chevrons in my card and chose to work with yellow as there are some yellow on those ties.
Here is my card:

I have adhered black cardstock on the card front and cut out the squares from the white panel and stamped the chevron pattern on the white panel.  I then mounted the white panel onto the black with pop dots.  I then added the patterned paper squares, the piece of dry wall tape and the flower.  I then die-cut the leafy flourish and added that, also with pop dots to my card.

Here are some more photo's to try and show how I've put the white panel and flourish on pop dots.
Unfortunately the photo's do not really show how nice this looks IRL, but I'm sure you've got the idea.

The chevron stamp is part of the Borderline set by Verve and the Flourish die is from the Die-namics range by MFT.
The patterned paper is by Simple Stories and the flower by Prima.

Well, that's it for now.  Have a super day and happy crafting!

VLVJun2013 Week1

Hi, everyone!

I can't believe that such a lot of time has passed since I did my last card-post!!  I have started experimenting with mixed media scrapbooking and that has kept me busy for some time now.  There are just so many things one can do in the line of crafting, but the time is not always there to take part in everything!

Last night when I was visiting all my favourite card blogs and challenges I decided that it was time to make some cards again.  I decided to join in the fun with the VLVJun2013 challenge by Verve, over at Splitcoaststampers.  I hope to get time to do all the sketches for this month.  Here is the sketch for week 1:

I have created this card with Amber's sketch:

I have used dps by Teresa Collins, from her Summer stories range.
The stamps are from Verve's Borderline set.
The dies I've used are the Mini Hybrid Heirloom Rose and Leaf-Filled Flourish from the Die-namics range by MFT.
I've added a paper doily and some washi tape.

Hope you like my card!  Off to post week 2's card.

Thanks for the visit.
